The top of the M-TEK range and the ultimate Mercian stick. Shares the same performance characteristics as the LAVA with an innovative and important improvement. Some players prefer a stiff stick to feel stiff. However, some players want to protect themselves from the vibrations that can occur in a super-stiff stick. The innovative material in the FIRE dampens the vibrations, making a stiff stick that gives maximum energy transfer and yet has the associated 'touch' and 'feel' of a mid-specification composite. This results in a greater cushioning on receiving the ball. Patented by HEAD in tennis, Mercian have a patent pending on the use of PISO-ELECTRIC fibres within a hockey stick. These fibres are an active molecule material. Vibrations move up the stick until they hit these PISO-ELECTRIC fibres. The fibre molecules vibrate and convert the energy into electric energy and then into heat. Even if the player was to hit a ball consistantly for 24 hours, the area would heat up, but the quantity of energy is so low that it would not create any immediate effect. The LAVA represents another significant step for the technical specifications of Mercian composites. The CB2 shape is created from a fibreglass skeleton with Carbon, Kevlar and Basalt (LAVA) layers. The Basalt content has been increased to create an even greater strength and stiffness- the CB2 shape offers great stick 'turnover' and help with flicking. In addition to this, the super stiff construction gives fantastic hitting power. A further specific characteristic that is revolutionary, is the use of impregnated resin. Some composite materials are brittle in their natural form. To protect these and increase the durability of M-Tek sticks, the resins used have been mixed with POLYETHYLENE particles creating a rubberised resin. Whilst it cannot be felt, this rubberised resin layer gives some impact protection to the materials within the stick. The impregnated resin also has a texture similar to a worn wooden stick. It creates a surface texture that reduces the spin of the ball caused by wet pitches. The texture allows water to be displaced, allowing direct contact between the stick and ball on wet surfaces and thus more control. Has Mercian Crazy Bend 2 (25mm with a 5mm extended toe).

We have utilised the strengths of a fibreglass skeleton, with Carbon, Kevlar and Basalt overlays, to create a high specification composite stick with good performance levels and durability. The strength of the materials and their specific placements, similar to the process used in the manufacture of racing car bodies, enables us to offer the AIR in Superlight as well as light and medium. Material innovations have enabled us to create the OCEAN, the first adult level composite with ZERO CARBON. In this environmentally friendly world, the OCEAN represents a true innovation, with carbon being replaced by a totally new material. Basalt rock exists at the bottom of the Caspian Sea and is then imported by our exclusive manufacturing facility. It is melted at very high temperature and fibres are drawn from this molten lava and spun to create the material from which Basalt layers are formed. Basalt is as strong as carbon but is much easier to handle. It represents a more 'friendly' material to the factory workers and gives even better performance characteristics than carbon. OCEAN has a fibreglass skeleton overlaid with Basalt and Kevlar to create great performance characteristics with extra reinforcement applied at specific pressure points. Has CB1 19mm bow.
